The Quartet has been successful in applying for a Arts Council Travel and Training grant to bring internationally acclaimed music facilitator Tim Steiner to Mayo to work with the Quartet in providing secondary school and youth in-training. Tim will also be joining the Quartet for its first programme of the school year with the pupils of Ballinrobe Community School.

As a new departure, the Quartet and Tim will create a new work incorporating traditional and classical musicians, singers and dancers pooled from the whole school. All participants have had previous performance experience through the School’s own innovative and ongoing programme.

The final Free Concert - on Friday 5th October is at 7pm in St. Mary’s Church, Ballinrobe – is for the whole community and for all ages and it will feature the WhistleBlast Quartet performing the mini-orchestral sounds of Saint-Saen’s Danse Macabre, Stravinsky’s Miniatures, Gold Finger and much more!

The Music and dance pupils of Ballinrobe Community School will also take part in the Concert, performing a new work with the Quartet. A group of T/Y students will take photographs during the three-day programme and create an in-school exhibition from them.

Everyone in the Community is welcome so please go along for some fun and great music!

The WhistleBlast is funded by Mayo County Council, The Arts Council and The National Concert Hall Learn & Explore Programme. Participating schools contribute to the programme cost.
